About Mixy

As far back as I can remember, my first time with videogames was Doom, on a good old floppy disk. My dad and uncle would get together in a friend’s basement to play the night away. Cool, calm and collected behind the couch, I watched over their shoulders as they played. I was young, not afraid, and just simply fascinated.

My love for gaming, in large part, would follow suit on a console. I grew up with an NES in the basement. Blowing into cartridges, looking for magical ways and invocations to make them work. Patience’s be tested. A sad true story (which I only realized years after the fact), I never owned a SNES. A shame because I consider the SNES one of the best consoles to this day. I own 3 just to prove a point. I made the jump from the NES to the N64 and what a change that was! The games were large in scope, in 3D and the controllers had joysticks on them. So many new things to experience all at once! Games with mystery and adventure have always been my favorite. I’m a huge Zelda fan, like a lot of those in my generation, Ocarina of Time made a huge impact. It was nothing like The Legend of Zelda.

Around the same time, I discovered my first FPS games on my dad’s PC. Quake Arena and Unreal Tournament! But that was it for the PC experience. I spent the rest of my time on consoles.

My love for FPS came back a few years later, around the end of my teenage years with Battlefield 2. I spent a lot (like a lot) of the time playing with my then boyfriend. It was a massacre on the battlefield!

In recent years I played mostly Indie PC games (Binding of Isaac, Shovel Knight) and Sandbox games (Fallout, Skyrim). Whatever didn’t require actual aiming. Then, less than a year ago, I stumbled on Overwatch. Strategy, Team based AND an FPS? I fell right back in love. So here I am. Motivated to advocate for competitive gaming within female gamers and surround myself with other girlz who are just passionate as I am!

So, when do we duel 1v1 McCree? Pew, pew, pew <3
