About Quake

As far as I know, I’ve always had an interest in videogames. They have always been my favorite pastime. While my friends played with Barbies, I was on my N64 with my brother. With Mario Bros, Ocarina of Time, Battletank, Splinter Cell, Duke Nukem, Perfect Dark, Kirby The Crystal Shards, we had quite the collection to contend with. One day, my brother and I realized our dad also played videogames, though his games were on PC. His collection had titles like Doom, The Shadow Warrior, King’s Quest, Duke Nukem. It was around that time I started playing Ages of Empires on PC, the game that introduced me to online gaming.

As a teenager, my brother one of my favorite games of all time: Halo 3. That’s when I started playing competitively. I loved being able to Solo in the Lone Wolf Mode. I participated in many high school and university tournaments–team PVP modes (2 vs. 2  / 4 vs. 4). Not knowing anyone who played as much as I did, I was forced to pair up with strangers to compete along with. Without much success in finding a regular gaming partner, I soon gave up.

It’s quite a challenge choosing a single favorite game. It looks easy to guess from my Gamertag, but I wouldn’t place a bet on that alone. From the N64 to the different Xboxes, I played one too many games to be able to just pick one. Games are a lot like music to me, it’s instant nostalgia, and it’s one of the things I appreciate the most. After many years gaming, I finally found a game that stands from the crowd, and that’s Overwatch.

Last year, my brother yet again introduced me to another shooter, this time it was Overwatch. To choose a role to play, I based it off on my last PC experience–Battlefield 2. My favorite thing about BF2 was being able to heal my teammates and bring them back to life with a defibrillator. This led me to go into a Support role. I love the way I can contribute to a team in that manner.

My current goal is to get better and better, day in, day out. Now with a team of fully motivated ladies, I feel ready to compete.
